Robin Briendel is an associate practicing in the firm’s health care group. She advises health care and life sciences industry clients, including hospitals, health systems, physician and dental practices, and private equity firms, regarding a broad range of transactional, regulatory, and compliance issues.
Robin counsels clients on compliance with federal and state health care regulatory laws, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, HIPAA, and state laws governing licensure and professional practice. She also supports a variety of transactions, including joint ventures, mergers, and private equity investments, with a focus on regulatory structuring and diligence. She also maintains an active pro bono practice.
During law school, Robin served as senior production editor for the Federal Communications Law Journal. She was also the vice president of internal competitions of George Washington University’s Law’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, 1L coordinator of the Student Health Law Association, and a research assistant for Professor Sonia M. Suter.

- Counsels health care entities and investors on a range of transactions, including strategic acquisitions, joint ventures, mergers and affiliations, with a focus on health care regulatory structuring considerations and regulatory diligence.
- Advises clients on corporate practice of medicine issues, including structuring provider entities, physician employment arrangements, supervision requirements, and multi-state operational compliance.
- Defends various health care companies subject to investigations conducted by state and federal regulatory authorities and to False Claims Act litigation.
- Assists with preparation and submission of extensive regulatory and licensure change of ownership filings in connection with complex transactions.
