Paul Dali is a partner in the private equity transactions group of Ropes & Gray’s London office. Having spent a decade in-house as group general counsel at one of the world’s largest asset managers, he combines deep market and industry insight with practical deal and structuring experience to deliver strategic solutions to clients across the private equity, asset management and other financial institutions industry.

With extensive experience across international M&A, with a particular focus on private equity and asset management strategic transactions, as well as product line expansions, he works with the world’s leading private equity sponsors and asset managers on their most complex matters.

Paul draws on 20 years of experience from private practice as well as in-house roles at leading financial institution. After practicing at a leading UK law firm and a Swedish law firm, Paul served in the role of Group General Counsel, M&A and Investments at EQT for a decade, before returning into private practice at Ropes & Gray. During his time at EQT Group, Paul led the global legal M&A team, counselling deal teams on an array of private buy-out and take-private transactions, portfolio governance, risk management and regulatory matters, as well leading the team providing strategic legal advice to EQT’s equity and debt capital market teams. In addition, Paul, in his role, was an integral part of EQT’s Business Development & Strategy team, advising EQT’s executive committee on a broad range of matters, including in particular product line expansion and strategic growth opportunities (including strategic acquisitions of other asset managers, such as Baring Private Equity and Coller Capital).

Paul serves as the co-chair of the European Private Equity M&A Forum and previously also served as a steering committee member of the US Private Equity M&A Forum. He has been acknowledged as a leading figure in the private equity arena by The Legal 500’s “GC Powerlist” and been named one of The Lawyer’s “Global Elite Top 10 hires of 2025”.

    • strategic acquisition of and combination with Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA), subsequently forming “EQT Private Equity Asia” following combination with EQT’s then existing Asia private equity platform*
    • strategic acquisition of and combination with Life Science Partners (LSP)*
    • strategic acquisition of Exeter Property Group, combined with EQT’s then existing real estate platform, forming “EQT Real Estate”*
    • sale of EQT’s credit platform to Bridgepoint*
    • EQT Private Equity Funds and consortiums’ acquisition of and subsequent public offering of Galderma (formerly Nestle Skin Health)*, acquisition of Anticimex, acquisition of Banking Circle, acquisition of Envirotainer,  investment into Harvey, take-private of Dechra, take-private of Fortnoz and more*
    • EQT Infrastructure Funds on the acquisition of Zayo (in consortium with Digital Bridge), acquisition of EdgeConnex, acquisition of Nordic Ferry Infrastructure, take-private of OX2, GlobalConnect and more*
