Louisa Kiu is counsel in Ropes & Gray's asset management group and concentrates her practice on advising mutual funds, private funds, and their investment advisers across a broad range of regulatory and transactional matters.
Louisa brings deep familiarity with the Investment Company Act of 1940 and regularly counsels registered investment companies on a variety of complex undertakings, including fund formations and intricate fund mergers. She also guides investment advisers through the structuring, documentation, and offering of both U.S. and non-U.S. private funds, spanning hedge funds and closed-end credit funds.
Louisa's contributions on behalf of clients have been widely recognized. She was named to Best Lawyers: “Ones to Watch in America” for corporate law and was honored as a “New Leader in the Law” as part of the inaugural New England Legal Awards, which celebrate outstanding attorneys under age 40. Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly also selected her as an “Up and Coming” lawyer.
