Areas of Practice

Deb Maldonado joined Ropes & Gray’s litigation and enforcement practice group in 2022. Deb’s work is focused on civil litigation as well as enforcement investigations in the U.S. and Latin America. She also maintains an active pro bono practice, including assisting in a pro-bono matter with the litigation team and a blockchain task force to recover crypto assets from a woman who fell victim to a crypto currency scam.

While at law school, Deb was a member of the Barrister’s Council Trial Advocacy Division and was her section’s class speaker at graduation. She was the recipient of a CALI Award for Academic Excellence for Criminal Law and  a recipient of Ropes & Gray’s Roscoe Trimmier Jr. Diversity Scholarship.

Deb externed for Judge Dora Irizarry, the first Hispanic judge in the Eastern District of New York. Deb also previously worked at the U.S. Department of Justice where she assisted on various FCPA investigations in Washington D.C., and assisted the Brooklyn Strikeforce. She also previously worked at the Queens County District Attorney in New York.

  • Advises an international pharmaceutical company navigating FCPA investigations.
  • Conducting international anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, and sanctions risk monitoring of various client portfolio companies.
  • Represented a fitness franchise on an internal investigation relating to corporate waste.
  • Representing a global private equity firm facing litigation in relation to fraud and breach of contract in the U.S and Latin America.
  • Drafted a Wells Submission on behalf of the CEO of a software development company.
