Hugh Morris joined Ropes & Gray’s private equity transactions group in June 2026 and is based in the firm’s London office. Prior to joining the firm, Hugh was an associate in the corporate transactions team at another leading global law firm in London and Melbourne, Australia. Hugh has experience advising private equity sponsors and corporate clients on both public and private mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate reorganizations and joint ventures.
Experience
- Equitix, Aware Super and the UK's National Wealth Fund: Advised on the consortium's investment of £500 million into Eelpower Energy, a UK battery storage platform.*
- Arcus Infrastructure Partners: Advised on various transactions including its acquisition of WCCTV Group from LDC, the founder and certain other shareholders, and separately on its acquisition of Wifinity from LDC.*
- The Growth Fund: Advised on the sale of Fitness Passport to EQT.*
- Aquilius Investment Partners: Advised on the approximately AUD200 million investment into a GP-led continuation fund managed by Tasman Capital.*
- Confidential sponsor (UK/EU): Advised on the EUR160 million investment into a health and beauty business for a 35% interest.*
- Lendlease: Advised on the sale of a 50% interest in Lendlease’s UK development business to The Crown Estate to form a £24 billion joint venture.*
- Mollie Holding BV: Advised on the acquisition of GoCardless for EUR1.1 billion.*
- 7-Eleven Australia: Advised on all aspects of the competitive sale process for the acquisition of 7-Eleven Australia by Seven & I Holdings for AUD1.71 billion.*
