Mac is an associate in Ropes & Gray’s litigation and enforcement practice group. His practice focuses on civil litigation, white-collar defense, and government investigations. Mac also maintains an active pro bono practice, with a focus on providing legal advice to environmental organizations.
Mac first joined Ropes & Gray in 2023, rejoining in 2025 following a yearlong clerkship with the Honorable John A. Woodcock, Jr. of the United States District Court for the District of Maine. Mac received his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, where he was the articles editor of the Journal of Environmental Law and served as a teaching assistant to Professors Michael Gerrard and Sophia Bernhardt, respectively. During law school, Mac also interned for the Honorable Judge John P. Cronan in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and for the Environmental Protection Agency in the Criminal Enforcement Division.
Prior to law school, Mac worked as a paralegal for a large international corporation and for the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General.

- Represented a medical research institution in resolving claims related to allegations of historic sexual misconduct by a former employee.
- Represented a desalination company in a complex civil litigation brought pursuant to the federal Clean Water Act’s citizen suit provision.
- Represented a commercial developer in resolving alleged violations of the Massachusetts Hazardous Waste Management Act (M.G.L. Chapter 21C).
- Represented an international investment management company in connection with SEC investigation into its ESG-related offerings.
- Represented an institutional witness in connection with a federal criminal fraud trial.
- Represented a nonprofit organization in its acquisition of a regional hospital network, specifically with regard to environmental liabilities associated with its real estate portfolio.
- Represented a private equity firm in its strategic investment in an international chemical manufacturing company, specifically in relation to environmental liabilities arising from legacy sites and operation of the business.
- Represented an environmental non-profit organization in Massachusetts in its endeavor to submit a ballot initiative proposing a state constitutional right to a clean environment.
