Colleen is an associate in Ropes & Gray's health care practice group. She advises a range of health care and life science industry clients, such as academic medical centers, higher education institutions, biotechnology companies, and pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers on regulatory, compliance, enforcement, and transactional matters. Her practice focuses on research, federal funding, and data privacy issues.
Colleen's research and federal funding work covers the full life cycle of sponsored activity. She helps institutions comply with the requirements that attach to federal awards. She also advises on human subjects research and the privacy of research data, and she counsels clients facing research related government inquiries and enforcement matters. She has assisted several institutions with internal reviews of federally funded research activities and with responses to funding agency inquiries.
Colleen maintains a robust pro bono practice. She supports several immigration initiatives, volunteers with the DC Landlord Tenant Resource Center, and partners with GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) to help clients obtain legal name changes and update identity documents.
During law school at the University of Michigan, Colleen served on the board of the Black Law Students Association and as executive articles editor of the Michigan Journal of Race & Law. She was also a teaching assistant to Professor Patrick Barry and a graduate student instructor to undergraduate students in the University of Michigan's Department of Women’s and Gender Studies. Prior to law school, Colleen worked as a paralegal at another international law firm and in alumni relations at Georgetown University, her alma mater.
