David is a partner in the asset management group who advises financial services firms, including closed- and open-end registered investment companies, private investment pools, registered investment advisers, and broker-dealers. He also represents a number of non-U.S. investment advisory firms.

With more than three decades of experience, David is widely known for his work in representing large investment advisers and registered funds, with a specialty in closed-end and interval funds. He guides industry leaders such as PIMCO, Allianz, Capital Group, MFS, JPMorgan, Macquarie, Ashmore, Harrison Street Private Wealth and various others. Clients rely on his “measured and thoughtful advice” and “practical insights,” as reported to Chambers, where David is ranked nationwide for registered funds.

David recently served as lead adviser to the closed-end fund group of the Investment Company Institute’s taskforce to reform the Investment Company Act of 1940. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University School of Law.

Experience

  • Represents Allianz Global Investors of America and several of its subsidiaries in a variety of corporate, regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Served as lead partner in the organization and initial public offerings of more than 20 closed-end funds sponsored by Allianz and PIMCO and numerous open-end funds in the Allianz family, and in the day-to-day representation of the funds.
  • Serves as counsel to the MFS Funds and their Independent Trustees.
  • Has represented a number of non-U.S. investment advisers in connection with U.S. registration and regulation and establishment of registered and unregistered products and offerings in the U.S.
