Rory Skowron is an associate in Ropes & Gray's litigation and enforcement practice group. He represents clients in administrative litigation, business disputes, securities litigation, False Claims Act matters, and appeals. 

From 2022 to 2023, Rory was a law clerk to the Honorable Raymond Gruender of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in St. Louis, Missouri.

During law school, Rory served as executive articles editor of the Boston College Law Review, a teaching and research assistant, and an intern for judges of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

  • Representing group of underwriter defendants in appeal from the dismissal of securities class action complaint in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
  • Representing the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families in pro bono appeal involving parental rights in the Massachusetts Appeals Court. 
  • Representing energy company in appeal from the dismissal of securities class action complaint in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. 
  • Representing university in state court contract dispute involving media rights. 
  • Represented private equity firm in securing dismissals of major antitrust enforcement action brought by the Federal Trade Commission and related private class action complaint. 
  • Represented private company in dispute with federal agency concerning alleged Clean Air Act violations.
  • Represented public company in litigation with state agencies concerning remediation of asbestos-containing material.
  • Defended public technology company in AAA commercial arbitration involving $100 million claim for earnout payments.
