Shudan Shen is a partner in the firm's asset management group who advises U.S. and non-U.S. private fund sponsors on fundraising and fund operations. Her practice covers a range of fund sizes and strategies, including buyouts, secondaries, funds-of-funds, and credit. She also advises on funds-of-one, separately managed accounts, and co-investment vehicles, and supports sponsors navigating private wealth channels, including structuring private wealth feeder funds.
Shudan has significant experience advising clients throughout the full life cycle of a fund, from fundraising strategy and execution to ongoing fund operations, investment activities, and regulatory and compliance matters. In addition, she provides strategic guidance to sponsors on their internal firm structures. Clients rely on Shudan for practical, commercial solutions to complex structuring and fundraising issues.
Active in the broader private funds community, Shudan serves as secretary of the New York City Bar Association's Private Investment Funds Committee.
Shudan brings an unusual background to the practice of law. Before law school, she earned a PhD in Immunology from Duke University, and worked as a biomedical researcher. She brings the same analytical rigor to her practice.
