As remote working becomes the new normal for office workers and attention focusing on ensuring colleagues, families and friends are healthy and have enough food and supplies to last any period of isolation, workers may be less attentive to cyber threats and more likely to open official looking COVID-19 related emails. Hackers are looking to exploit these issues and benefit form the confusion by increasing the use of phishing emails linked to COVID-19.

In this time of emergency response, the legal obligations to process data securely remains as onerous as ever. Organisations need to keep workers aware of the security risks that are evolving as the unscrupulous look to benefit from confusion and think about processes for keeping a decentralised workforce up-to-date and behaving securely.
