On Oct. 24, Ropes & Gray invites lawyers and legal professionals to a complimentary luncheon and panel discussion from 12 – 2 pm as part of the firm’s partnership with The Chicago Bar Association and The Chicago Bar Foundation to celebrate Chicago’s 14th Annual Pro Bono Week.
The event will feature a panel discussion titled “Addressing the Hidden Impact of Evictions,” with speakers from Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing, the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, and Housing Action Illinois. The panelists will reflect on the 2017 Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by Matthew Desmond, and will also discuss how legal aid advocates are working to reduce the negative consequences of eviction in Chicago. The Chicago Bar Foundation reports that more than 25,000 eviction cases are filed in Cook County.
This event is approved for 1.5 IL MCLE credits. It will take place in the Chicago office of Ropes & Gray, located at 191 North Wacker Drive (32nd floor).
Space is limited. To register or learn more, please email Angela Inzano at ainzano@chicagobar.org
