Boston-based sports law partner Dennis M. Coleman was appointed to the board of directors of the Sports Lawyers Association on May 19 at the association’s annual conference in Washington, D.C.
Coleman is head of Ropes & Gray’s sports law group, representing coaches, broadcasters, athletic institutions and associations. He represents the National Football League, the National Association of Basketball Coaches and a variety of head football and basketball coaches in contract, sponsorship and endorsement matters.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Sports Lawyers Association’s board of directors,” Coleman said. “The SLA is the most prestigious association in our business. I consider this an honor for our entire group.”
The Sports Lawyers Association is a nonprofit, international, professional organization that promotes the understanding, advancement and ethical practice of sports law. The association’s board includes representatives of the NFL, Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, Fox Sports, MTV Networks, Nike, IMG and a number of universities, law schools and law firms.
