Investment management partner James Thomas is quoted in a Jan. 31 Compliance Intelligence article titled “OCIE Warns On Alternative Investment Due Diligence.” Mr. Thomas explains that a recent risk alert published by the SEC’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations reminds compliance officers of advisers investing in alternative funds to revisit their due diligence policies and procedures. He notes, “It’s a good idea for CCOs to take a look at the way due diligence processes are described and formalized. They should take a look at what their processes actually are in practice and make sure that they are being complied with, taking care that people aren’t skipping certain steps, and that the processes that are actually done match what’s described in offering documents.”
