Ropes & Gray was recognized for its pro bono service to the New York State Courts Access to Justice Program in its 2013 annual report to the Chief Judge and Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York. The report notes that Ropes & Gray associates are regular participants in the Volunteer Attorney Program (VAP), providing assistance to unrepresented litigants in the Family Court Help Centers in each of the five boroughs. As part of their service, the attorneys provide advice and assist with pleadings in support, custody, visitation and guardianship matters. The VAP assisted more than 3,400 litigants in 2013.
