Discovering Justice, an organization that helps students develop an understanding for how the justice system works, honored both appellate & Supreme Court litigation partner Douglas Hallward-Driemeier and GLAD Civil Rights Project Director Mary Bonauto with a Champion of Justice award at the organization’s annual benefit, held in Boston on April 13. The award celebrated Mr. Hallward-Driemeier and Ms. Bonauto’s work on behalf of plaintiffs in the landmark U.S. marriage equality case, Obergefell v. Hodges, which recognized the legal right of same-sex couples to marry throughout the nation. Ropes & Gray was also recognized by Discovering Justice with the organization’s Champion of Democracy award.
