As part of Ropes & Gray’s Latin America initiative, attorneys traveled to Mexico late last month to host an event focusing on Mexico’s new anti-corruption regulations. The two-hour discussion revolved around the impact of the new regulations—which aim to create a new paradigm of integrity and transparency in Mexican government—including the regulations’ impact on Mexican and multi-national companies operating in Mexico, the creation of a new, independent Mexican anti-corruption authority, and the expectation that the regulations will increase cross-border cooperation between anti-corruption agencies in the U.S., Mexico, and beyond.

Ropes & Gray partnered with Von Wobeser Sierra, Kroll Mexico and the Mexican Ministry of Public Service to organize the event. Roughly 100 people attended, including senior attorneys at large public and private Mexican and multi-national companies, current and former members of the Mexican government, including the former Chief Justice of the Mexican Supreme Court, key industry leaders, and the Mexican news media.

Ropes & Gray business & securities litigation partner Nick Berg organized the Mexico event in connection with the firm’s Latin America initiative. To learn more about the initiative, please visit Ropes & Gray’s Latin America web page.
