Ropes & Gray has advised 3i Group plc, a leading international investment manager focused on mid-market private equity and infrastructure, and GartenHaus on the acquisition of Outdoor Toys, one of the UK’s leading online retailers of outdoor garden toys.
GartenHaus, a German-based digital leader in garden homes, sheds, saunas and related products in North Europe, is a portfolio company of 3i. The deal marks GartenHaus' second acquisition, since 3i’s investment in September 2020, and forms part of 3i’s strategy of building GartenHaus into the leading European platform for home and garden projects.
This acquisition expands GartenHaus’s product portfolio and geographic reach whilst also enabling Outdoor Toys to increase its international reach. The combined business will be able to cross sell its products to customers as well as benefit from online marketing, customer service and supply chain synergies.
The London-based Ropes & Gray team was led by private equity transactions partner Helen Croke, with associate George Taylor. Other members of the team included tax partner Brenda Coleman, data, privacy & cyber security partner Rohan Massey, and trainee Isuri De Alwis.
