Anticorruption & international risk co-chair and partner Ryan Rohlfsen appeared on The American Lawyer’s “Midwest Trailblazers” list.
Ryan served as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice and as a member of the DOJ’s elite unit responsible for global enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). He has been practicing in the area of international government enforcement and compliance risk mitigation for two decades and is recognized as one of the leading global anti-corruption and FCPA practitioners.
Ryan told The American Lawyer, “I’m interested in why people act the way they do, the fact patterns associated with actions and potential consequences under the law. The ability to conduct investigations and collect evidence is dramatically different when you cross borders, and so is the skillset - which relies much more on understanding people, building trust, and executing the job efficiently. I also like being in the thick of investigations, which is why I joined the DOJ's FCPA Unit, and then Ropes & Gray, where my investigative work involves complex anti-corruption and international risk cases.”
