In a Bloomberg Law Practical Guidance article, a US and UK-based team explored artificial intelligence privacy considerations in the U.S. and Europe. This is a rapidly evolving area with new federal, state and ex-US laws and regulatory requirements emerging that companies should consider when assessing their AI obligations.
The authors provide a checklist of privacy-related issues when evaluating AI products and systems, whether developed internally or by a third-party vendor. The checklist is focused on the US and EU/UK privacy and data protection related matters, including those arising under HIPAA, the EU and UK GDPR and recently-enacted US state privacy laws.
The practical guidance article was authored by health care partner David Peloquin, data, privacy & cybersecurity partner Rohan Massey, health care counsel Elizabeth Whitkin and data, privacy & cybersecurity associate Robyn Bond.
