Private equity partner Scott Abramowitz spoke to S&P Global on the nearly 43% year-on-year increase in private equity and venture capital deal value in the third quarter of 2025.
Private equity and venture capital activity has increased in response to investors’ push to deploy capital, Scott said, as the gap between buyers' and sellers' expectations on valuations has narrowed.
"We've seen a little bit of an acceptance from some sellers that the assumptions or the expectations around multiples and around returns that they've been holding on to for the last couple of years may not get there," Scott said.
"We have seen a huge amount of available debt financing and strong interest from co-investors," Scott added. "Those factors contribute toward the availability of financing for large deals and interest in pursuing large deals."
