Jane Rogers, co-head of the finance practice, and Amy Ross, chief of attorney talent, were quoted in a Reuters article on Ropes & Gray’s new “TrAIlblazers” program, which allocates a portion of first-year associates’ billable time for AI training, simulations, and hands‑on experimentation.
The pilot program formalizes dedicated time for early‑career lawyers to build AI expertise, develop and share best practices, and collect, analyze, and disseminate use cases to enhance learning across the firm.
In the article, Jane underscored the program’s strategic purpose, noting it enables new lawyers “to see the importance of this transformative technology, and also to empower them to have the time to spend to learn the tools.”
Amy, meanwhile, emphasized the program’s creative latitude, saying associates can leverage it “to think about another way, or a more creative way, to do something that they’re being asked to do.”
