Ropes & Gray advised American Industrial Partners on the financing and governance aspects of its completed carveout acquisition of the Global Cellulose Fibers (GCF) business of International Paper. GCF now operates as an independent company. The transaction was announced in a January 23 press release.
American Industrial Partners is an operationally-oriented industrials investor. Current AIP portfolio companies generate aggregate annual revenues of approximately $29 billion and employ 72,000+ employees as of September 30, 2025.
The team included finance partners Dan Coyne, Stefanie Birkmann and Jeffrey Lang, private equity partner Bob Rivollier, tax partner Tristan Evans-Wilent, and executive compensation partner Allie Alperovich.
