Ropes & Gray announced today that Peter Rosen, a highly respected leader in the secondaries market and former in-house counsel and partner at Coller Capital, has joined the firm as a partner in the alternative asset opportunities (AAO) group, based in New York. His arrival significantly expands the firm’s global secondaries practice at a time of explosive growth in the secondaries market, equipping clients across the U.S. and Europe with the rare advantage of a trusted advisor who has led complex transactions from the investor's side of the table.
Peter is the 20th lateral partner hired by Ropes & Gray in 2026, reflecting the firm’s ongoing commitment to strategic growth and investment in top-tier talent.
"Clients navigating today's secondaries market need an advisor who's been in the room for the deals that define it," said Julie Jones, Chair. "Peter brings exactly that. He has spent his career guiding LPs and sponsors through their most complex transactions, and he has the judgment, relationships, and market instincts that clients want when the stakes are highest.”
Peter brings a versatile skillset developed through years of advising on complex transactions for Coller Capital, one of the world’s leading secondaries investors. His experience spans GP-led fund recapitalizations, LP portfolio sales, joint ventures, large check primaries, coinvests, GP stakes, and other sophisticated transactions. Prior to Coller, Peter was in-house at Macquarie, where he focused on the private infrastructure fund business.
“Peter’s joining marks a significant step forward for the AAO group,” said Isabel Dische, leader of the alternative asset opportunities group. ”Having led legal teams from within one of the world’s preeminent secondaries funds, his expertise will help us further strengthen our global secondaries practice and enhance our ability to advise sponsors and investors on their most innovative and complex transactions.”
Peter’s arrival follows recent strategic hires across the firm’s private capital platform, including regulatory, tax, litigation and fund formation, underscoring Ropes & Gray’s commitment to delivering best-in-class talent and counsel to clients worldwide.
Peter joins a practice that is ranked Band 1 in Chambers Global for Investor Representation, and in Chambers USA Nationwide for Investment Funds and Secondaries. The Ropes & Gray team has been ranked No. 1 legal advisor by Secondaries Investor four times and completed more than 600 secondaries transactions in 2025.
“I am excited to join Ropes & Gray’s market-leading secondaries practice and contribute to the continued growth of the AAO group,” said Peter Rosen. “Ropes & Gray’s one-firm culture and integrated platform set it apart. I look forward to working alongside my new colleagues to deliver exceptional service and help mentor the next generation of lawyers.”
