The Daily Journal named health care partner John Chesley (San Francisco) a Top Healthcare Lawyer in California for the second consecutive year. An April 22 article highlights his work in health care finance, transactions, restructuring, and on tax-exempt and regulatory enforcement issues.
John’s accomplishments, profiled in a feature article, include representing Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in the negotiation of a whole-hospital joint venture with Providence St. Joseph Health to expand Cedars-Sinai’s health care services in California’s San Fernando Valley.
John explains that with the COVID-19 pandemic he is advising health care provider clients on how to deal with rationing care when a surge of patients arrives at overburdened facilities. He notes that “the standard of care shifts from an individual model to a population best interest model. The legal consequences for caregivers is that it creates more latitude for them to make tough calls without liability.”
The list was compiled from hundreds of nominations submitted by lawyers statewide, with the honorees selected by editors based on the impact of their work.
