Ropes & Gray has been shortlisted in the “D&I Initiative of the Year” category at the Women, Influence & Power in Law UK Awards, hosted by Law.com International.
The accolade comes in recognition of Ropes & Gray’s BRidge to the City programme, a social mobility scholarship scheme launched in May 2022 for first-year university students from diverse and underserved low socioeconomic backgrounds in the UK. Delivered in partnership with Bloomberg LP’s Legal and Compliance department’s Pro Bono Program, BRidge to the City aims to provide participants with the opportunity to explore careers in law, compliance, finance, and technology in a global business and law firm in the City of London.
The first cohort of 12 SEO London students took part in a two-week paid work experience scheme at the London offices of both Bloomberg and Ropes & Gray in August 2022. Two outstanding students, Nyah Clark and Jakaria Uddin, were then awarded scholarships, comprising £20,000 bursaries, long-term mentoring, and vacation placements. In addition to the two scholarship winners (one joining Ropes & Gray’s vacation scheme, and the other joining Bloomberg’s summer internship programme), two other students have also won vacation scheme places at Ropes & Gray.
Winners will be announced on March 8, 2023.
