Ropes & Gray asset management partners Jessica Marlin and Justin Kliger have been named to Private Fund CFO Magazine’s Legal Rising Stars List. The list recognizes individuals under the age of 40 considered to be rising stars working within the legal industry on matters involving private funds.
When asked about significant market trends over the next 12 months across private funds, Justin told the publication, “with the slowed pace of exits and denominator effect impacting investors, firms will need to be creative both with liquidity solutions and with developing innovative products that attract new capital in an increasingly competitive landscape.”
On the next generation of private equity legal talent, Jessica highlighted two required qualities, “differentiation and adaptability – I think we will need to be able to differentiate ourselves from other lawyers, which requires specialization, while at the same time easily adapting to the next trend, which requires a broader skill set. As part of this, we will need to be able to think creatively and to anticipate in a way that AI cannot.”
