Ropes & Gray Hosts Fifth Conference on Data Partnerships and Opportunities in Massachusetts

Event
May 6, 2020

On May 6, Ropes & Gray, Mass Insight Global Partnerships, and the university-industry partners launching the Data Science Network hosted a virtual briefing and discussion with over 100 attendees. The event featured insights and analysis of the powerful opportunities to accelerate data partnerships to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and related financial and economic crises – and the long-term impact of these data collaborations on the way we do business.

The session’s keynote speaker, Professor Andrew W. Lo of the MIT Sloan School, presented on data sharing in the COVID and post-COVID world. Additional panel discussions focused on automated contact tracing and other data collaborations in response to the COVID crisis, with insights from Randy Swanberg, SVP of Automation and AI at State Street, and Marc Zissman, Associate Division Head of Cyber Security and Information Sciences at MIT Lincoln Lab. Data, privacy & cybersecurity partner Ed McNicholas (Washington, DC) moderated the sessions.

Ropes & Gray is serving as the exclusive legal partner of The Data Science Network in an ongoing initiative to align interested private sector participants with university members, academic researchers and others to identify and address digital technology challenges. Alongside McNicholas and Angle, strategic transactions partner Ed Black (Boston) is leading the efforts to liaise with Mass Insight and its members for the conference.
