Business Restructuring Partner Named to 25th Class of American College of Bankruptcy

Business restructuring partner Jim Wilton will be inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy on March 14, 2014 in Washington, D.C. 

Mr. Wilton has extensive experience in Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructurings and has represented debtors, creditors’ committees, corporate directors and officers, and acquirers of distressed assets in major cases throughout the United States. His clients include major pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, strategic purchasers of assets and boards of directors of troubled companies. 

Fellows of the College are selected by a Board of Regents from among recommendations of the Circuit Admissions Counsel in each federal judicial circuit. One of four individuals selected from the First Circuit, Mr. Wilton was chosen for this prestigious honor by the College based on criteria that include “the highest standard of professionalism, ethics, character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership in contributing to the enhancement of bankruptcy and insolvency processes; sustained evidence of scholarship, teaching, lecturing or writing on bankruptcy or insolvency; and commitment to elevate knowledge and understanding of the profession and public respect for the practice.”

Throughout his career, Mr. Wilton has maintained a commitment to furthering education about the practice of insolvency law. Among his recent articles are “Trademark Licensing in the Shadow of Bankruptcy” in the May 2013 issue of the ABA’s The Business Lawyer, “Tackling Rights of Trademark Licensees in Bankruptcy” in Law360 and “Parsing and Complying with New Rule 2019” in the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal.


The American College of Bankruptcy is an honorary professional and educational association of bankruptcy and insolvency professionals. Fellows of the College include commercial and consumer bankruptcy attorneys, insolvency accountants, turnaround specialists, law professors, judges, and government officials, among others.
