Cross-Practice Team Advises Xfund II LLC Complete First Fundraising Campaign
A cross-practice team of Ropes & Gray lawyers recently helped an innovative, Cambridge-based venture capital fund – Xfund II LLC – successfully complete its first fund-raising campaign, which closed on Dec. 4 with $100 million in capital commitments.
Xfund began as a partnership between existing venture capital firms working together with the intention of connecting highly educated, entrepreneurial talent in university towns with the business expertise of longstanding VC professionals.
The Ropes & Gray team included private investment funds partner Peter Laybourn and associate John GangQiao (both of Boston), tax associates Adam Greenwood (New York) and Alyssa Kollmeyer (Boston), and investment management counsel Michael Jurasic (Boston). Also assisting on the matter were IP transactions partner Ed Black (Boston), private investment funds partner Jason E. Brown (Boston), and government enforcement partner Aaron Katz (Boston).
