Further marking the firm’s dedication to serving low-income individuals and nonprofits in need of legal assistance, Ropes & Gray was recently honored by Law360 as a "Pro Bono Firm of the Year" for 2014. The firm was recognized for the over 115,000 hours of pro bono service provided by its attorneys and professional staff in 2013 —more than double the amount of hours spent in 2007, a mere six years prior.

"The numbers are just a reflection of the fact that it's part of our professional responsibility," said business & securities litigation partner and pro bono committee co-chair Bill Sussman (New York). "We really believe that. It's specifically part of what it means to be a lawyer at Ropes & Gray."

The feature also highlighted two of the firm's most important matters from the past year: Ropes & Gray's work with Lambda Legal in Louisiana to safeguard the rights of low-income people living with HIV and the firm's involvement with the Massachusetts Pay for Success Initiative in partnership with Third Sector. Business & securities litigation partner Jeff Bushofsky (Chicago) and finance partner Win Minot (Boston), who led the respective teams for these matters, discuss the challenges and rewards of representing their clients.
