International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Asia Awards 2015, hosted in Hong Kong on March 11, recognized the efforts of Ropes & Gray teams with three wins in the categories of “High Yield Deal of the Year,” “Restructuring Deal of the Year” and “Restructuring Team of the Year.” The IFLR Asia Awards occur annually and recognize innovative and top-tier legal work performed by private-practice and in-house attorneys in the region.

The “High Yield Deal of the Year” award relates to the firm’s work on the take-private financing of Pactera, in which Ropes & Gray represented the buyer group consortium, led by an affiliate of funds managed or advised by Blackstone and joined by several senior management members of Pactera.

The “Restructuring Deal of the Year” award relates to Ropes & Gray’s representation of an ad hoc committee of bondholders for the Indian wind-turbine maker Suzlon Energy Ltd., in the restructuring of approximately $580 million in foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs). Suzlon had defaulted on the FCCBs, which consisted of four different issuances of bonds, in Oct. 2012. This matter, along with the advisement of an ad hoc committee of holders of LDK Solar Co. Ltd.’s New York law-governed 10% senior notes in the context of a wider restructuring of LDK’s offshore liabilities following a default in the payment of interest in Aug. 2013, contributed to the firm’s win in the category of “Restructuring Team of the Year.”
