Ropes & Gray Represents HealthSouth’s Encompass in Acquisition of CareSouth Health System for $170 Million
The Encompass Home Health operating unit of HealthSouth Corporation has completed its acquisition of the home health and hospice agency operations of CareSouth Health System, Inc. for $170 million in cash. Ropes & Gray represented HealthSouth in the transaction, which was announced on Aug. 31 and closed on Nov. 2.
Birmingham, Ala.-based HealthSouth is one of the nation’s largest providers of post-acute health care services. CareSouth, which is based in Augusta, Ga., provides home health, hospice and private duty services in 45 locations across the mid-Atlantic and Southeast region of the United States.
