On April 21, CNBC’s American Greed, which profiles white collar crimes, aired a premiere episode titled “A Mother's Costly Revenge," featuring government enforcement partner Ryan Rohlfsen (Chicago), a former federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, Fraud Section, at DOJ headquarters in Washington, D.C. At the DOJ, Mr. Rohlfsen prosecuted complex corporate crimes and corruption, and is currently the only former member of the DOJ’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Unit practicing in Chicago.  In the episode, Mr. Rohlfsen discusses his role prosecuting Paul Kruse, who used his Jacksonville, Fla.-based investment management firm to defraud a number of clients, and then, after getting caught, hired hit men to kill his former assistant who had turned him in to the FBI. Mr. Kruse is serving 30 years in prison for wire fraud conspiracy, attempting to murder a government witness, and murder-for-hire. CNBC released a trailer for the episode featuring Mr. Rohlfsen, who said, “It takes a really big leap to go from a financial crime to wanting to kill people.” The episode will re-air, April 22, on CNBC at 6:00 PM CT.
