Ropes & Gray represented TPG Capital, the North American- and European-focused private equity fund of leading global alternative asset firm TPG, in its proposed acquisition of Beaver-Visitec International (BVI) from RoundTable Healthcare Partners.

Based in Waltham, Mass., BVI is a leading global developer, manufacturer, and marketer of specialized surgical devices for the ophthalmic marketplace. TPG is a leading global private investment firm founded in 1992 with over $70 billion of assets under management. TPG invests across a wide range of asset classes, including private equity, growth venture, real estate, credit and public equity.

The deal, announced July 18, is expected to close during the third quarter of 2016. Additional terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Ropes & Gray team advising TPG Capital included health care partner William Knowlton, life sciences partner Gregory Levine, and government enforcement partners Joan McPhee and Laura Hoey.
