Ropes & Gray’s Boston Office Commemorates Gift to Emerald Necklace Conservancy

On August 17, Ropes & Gray joined the Emerald Necklace Conservancy and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation for a plaque dedication ceremony to commemorate the planting of 150 new red oak trees along the parkways of the Emerald Necklace. In 2015, Ropes & Gray’s partners in Boston celebrated the firm’s 150^th anniversary with a gift of 150 trees to the Conservancy.

The tree planting project enables the Conservancy to maintain the legacy that Emerald Necklace architect Frederick Law Olmsted envisioned, one where city dwellers can enjoy the outdoors without needing to take a long trip to the mountains or countryside. In addition to planting the trees, the Conservancy will use Ropes & Gray’s gift to care for the oaks for two years, a critical time for new plantings. This will include regular watering, pruning and monitoring to help assure their long-term survival.

Boston office co-managing partners Newcomb Stillwell, Jane Goldstein, Diane Patrick, and private client group partner Martin Hall, who recently joined the Conservancy’s Board of Directors, have been instrumental in the founding of our partnership.
