Ropes & Gray Sponsors SMART Goes to College Celebration
On April 26, Ropes & Gray sponsored the 9th annual SMART Goes to College Fundraiser and Celebration of Scholar Achievements, held at the Mark Salkind Center at the Urban School of San Francisco. The celebration helps support the San Francisco-based SMART program, which provides low-income students with access to academically rigorous schools and intensive social, emotional and academic support in grades 5-12.
Private equity transactions partner Todd Boes (San Francisco) welcomed the hundreds of attendees—including Ropes & Gray clients, SMART scholars and SMART supporters—with opening remarks. “I’m pleased to be here on Ropes & Gray’s behalf—and proud that I work for a firm that deeply commits itself to pro bono and community service,” Mr. Boes said, adding that “in 2016 alone, over 1,500 Ropes & Gray lawyers, paralegals and staff worldwide committed more than 130,000 hours of legal advice and community support to worthy causes and organizations. Our firm believes strongly that diversity and a commitment to giving back create not just a richer, healthier and better law firm, but also a richer, healthier and more broadly prosperous community.” Mr. Boes also conveyed his hope that one day a SMART graduate will come to work at Ropes & Gray, drawn to the firm in part by its commitment to community service.
