IP litigation partner Andrew Thomases (Silicon Valley) successfully represented streaming media service Roku Inc. in a patent infringement suit brought by non-practicing entity Blue Spike LLC. The lawsuit concerned seven patents related to secure transactions and information security.
In finding that venue was improper under the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent TC Heartland decision, the Eastern District of Texas court accepted Roku’s argument that it is based in Delaware with a principal place of business in Northern California.
Mr. Thomases’ representation of Roku is discussed in a July 6 Law360 article.
