In Bloomberg BNA, PTAB Chair Addresses Patent Trademark Office Fee Increase
Intellectual property litigation partner and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) chair Scott McKeown (Washington, D.C.) was quoted in a Nov. 15 article published by Bloomberg BNA’s Patent, Trademark & Copyright Journal, that also appeared in Bloomberg BNA’s Big Law Business, examining how the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s upcoming 56 percent increase in the cost of challenging the validity of an existing patent is unlikely to deter filings.
Mr. McKeown explains that even with the fee increase, PTAB trial proceedings remain far more cost effective than the patent invalidity proceedings of the courts.
