In The Wall Street Journal Pro Private Equity, Private Investment Funds Practice Group Co-leader Discusses the co-CEO model

Practices: Asset Management, Private Funds, Private Equity, Sponsor Representation, Corporate Governance & Compliance

A Nov. 27 article in The Wall Street Journal Pro Private Equity titled “Private Equity Paves Long and Gradual Road to Succession” discusses succession planning for the next generation of leadership within the industry. An earlier column published on Nov. 6 titled “Putting the Co-CEO Model to the Test” highlights the prevalence of the co-CEO leadership model within private equity. Both articles discuss the evolution of the model, with industry professionals noting the benefits of this when co-CEOs bring different skill sets which drive the firm’s growth and success. Private investment funds partner and practice co-leader John Ayer outlines in both pieces that “sometimes one person is really strong externally, great with investors, and the other is a particularly strong manager of the business, so they complement each other.”
