IP litigation partners Steven Pepe and Kevin Post and IP litigation associate Lance Shapiro (all of New York) authored a follow-up article to their January 12, 2018 article titled “Internet of Things: Next Patent War Zone” in Bloomberg Law’s Patent Trademark & Copyright Journal.

This article, which is the second in a three-part series addressing IoT issues, was published on May 18. The Bloomberg Law article titled “Internet of Things: Manufacturers’ Patent, Business Considerations,” examines patent and business considerations for manufacturers entering the “next patent war zone” of connected smart devices.

The authors address topics including incorporating anticipated patent royalty and litigation burden into IoT product pricing, obtaining licenses for IoT patents and negotiating indemnification and insurance agreements for IoT devices.
