Global law firm Ropes & Gray will retain two out of three of its London trainees, who are due to qualify in March 2019. The two trainees who are staying at the firm will join the firm’s Private Equity Transactions and Asset Management practices. At the same time the firm can confirm that it has increased its London NQ salaries to £120,000, plus bonus.

The firm retained 100% of its London trainees who qualified in September 2018. The six-strong cohort—who were all offered and accepted positions at the firm—qualified into the firm’s antitrust, finance, litigation & enforcement, private equity, asset management, and real estate practices.

The firm’s training programme, which includes an international seat, has been running since 2011. It provides experience working on complex, cross-border matters and is now made up of 14 trainees.

Rohan Massey, London training principal partner, said: “We’re proud of our trainee programme, as we are of our highly talented trainees. The effectiveness of our training, with its opportunity to work on complex and international matters, complemented by a highly competitive salary and benefits package, means that Ropes & Gray is a natural home for talented, ambitious trainee lawyers focused on international careers. They also join a firm that is committed to supporting the development of its lawyers throughout their careers and has a strong track record of promoting its best lawyers to partner."
