In the April 29 issue of Real Estate Fund Intelligence, asset management partner Matt Posthuma discusses sponsor concerns surrounding the Internal Revenue Service’s updated guidelines on opportunity zones.
While some questions were clarified, the article outlines the mismatch between what fund managers need and guidance. “From a high level, one of the problems is that the people who wrote the statutes are not the people who are doing the funds,” Mr. Posthuma said. “It's difficult for sponsors who are try¬ing to raise OZ funds to fit these funds and their rules and regulations into what real estate fund managers typically do.”
