Alex Simkin Joins Ropes & Gray’s 350-Lawyer New York Office

Ropes & Gray today announced that Alexander B. Simkin, an experienced commercial litigator, has joined the firm’s 350-lawyer New York office as counsel in the firm’s litigation & enforcement practice group.

The arrival of Mr. Simkin expands Ropes & Gray’s commercial litigation offering in New York, and builds upon the practice group’s growth to meet the breadth of its clients’ litigation needs. Mr. Simkin has significant experience representing financial institutions and other corporate clients through all stages of complex commercial litigation, from pre-litigation advisory services through trial and appeal.

A litigator with substantial trial experience, Mr. Simkin has tried numerous cases to verdict.  He has represented AIG, AmTrust, Berkshire Hathaway, Dillard’s Directors, Lehman Brothers’ Officers, Nationwide, Park Hill, the PBA, Qimonda, Stonepeak, Travelers, and Utica National, among others.

Mr. Simkin joins Ropes & Gray from Kasowitz Benson Torres, where he served as special counsel in the litigation group. Prior to Kasowitz, he practiced at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett for more than a decade. Mr. Simkin earned a B.A. in political science and communications from the University of Pennsylvania graduating magna cum laude. He received his J.D. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as senior editor of the Journal of Constitutional Law.
