The Securities and Exchange Commission’s fifth commissioner, Allison Lee, was sworn into office on July 9. A July 10 article in FundFire, titled “New SEC Commissioner Brings Bench up to Full Force,” discusses Lee’s views on waivers for automatic disqualifications and quotes asset management counsel David Tittsworth. Despite Lee’s affiliation with Kara Stein, who was "a liberal voice" at the SEC, it’s hard to predict how Lee will vote,” says Mr. Tittsworth. “She worked for Kara Stein, she worked as an attorney in the SEC enforcement division for many years, but beyond that it’s very difficult to say that she’s going to cast votes one way or the other,” he says. “The assumption is that she’ll be more like Kara Stein than a Republican.”
