Ropes & Gray Grows its Global Anti-Corruption and International Risk Team with Appointment of Paige Berges

Practices: Anti-Corruption / International Risk

Ropes & Gray has strengthened its market-leading anti-corruption and international risk group, with the appointment of Paige Berges as a counsel, based in London.

Paige Berges is a U.S.- and U.K.-qualified lawyer with broad cross-border experience in both advisory and defense matters and in-house experience in private equity and banking. Paige focuses on building best-in-class compliance solutions, particularly for investors. She regularly assists clients with pre-investment due diligence and post-investment monitoring to ensure compliance with economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, counterterrorist financing and anti-corruption regulations. In addition to her U.S., U.K. and pan-European practice, Paige brings significant experience helping clients build and implement compliance programs across Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and the MENA region.

Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Paige worked at CDC Group Plc, the United Kingdom’s Development Finance Institution and Barclays Investment Bank, where she was responsible for financial crime compliance across business lines, with a particular focus advising on transactional sanctions risk. From 2007-2015, she was a litigation and white collar lawyer based in New York advising clients across a broad range of sectors on anti-bribery and corruption, fraud and sanctions issues.

Amanda Raad, global co-head—alongside James Dowden and Ryan Rohlfsen—of Ropes & Gray's anti-corruption and international risk group, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Paige to the firm. In today’s climate of ever-increasing risk, including a welcomed focus on culture and reputation, companies and individuals involved in international business are increasingly turning to us to help them understand and navigate this new environment safely. Paige’s in-house and cross-border experience perfectly complements our team and allows us to best serve our clients.”
