Ropes & Gray Represents Golden Gate Capital in its Investment in Covia

Ropes & Gray represented Golden Gate Capital, a leading private equity investment firm, in its investment in Covia, a leading provider of mineral-based material solutions for the industrial and energy markets. Terms of the transaction, which was announced on Dec. 31, were not disclosed. The press release is here.

As part of the transaction, Covia, which is headquartered in Independence, Ohio, completed its financial restructuring and emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Golden Gate Capital and its affiliates are the largest individual shareholder in Covia following its emergence from Ch. 11. Golden Gate Capital is a San Francisco-based private equity investment firm with over $17 billion of committed capital.
