In a CBS News.com and CBS Moneywatch article, ESG and public companies partner Michael Littenberg (New York) discussed that an emerging area of focus for public companies and their investors is water scarcity, including the cost of water. More companies are mentioning water scarcity and related considerations in their SEC filings, particularly in risk factors.
Michael notes that, based on a recent Ropes & Gray review of annual Form 10-K filings, 58 companies mentioned ‘water risk’ in their 2020 filings, up from 41 the previous year.
