In an Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) article on the surge in patent litigation by non-practicing entities, IP litigation partner Kevin Post (New York) discussed how the market for the Internet-of-Things patent litigation looks similar to smartphone litigation over the past 10 years. 

Kevin notes that the market for IoT devices is diverse, meaning that even small royalty payments can generate significant sums. This leads NPE plaintiffs to be aggressive in their pursuit of IoT royalty payments.
