“All partners at Ropes & Gray operate on the premise that at any time, you may get the call and be asked to lead an office. This speaks to the culture of Ropes & Gray—our partners take opportunities and lead collaboratively,” asset management partner Paulita Pike recently told Law.com. In a Q&A profile for a series called “How I Made It,” she discussed her own career as well as the responsibilities and goals of her role as managing partner of the Chicago office.

One of the priorities she highlighted was promoting inclusivity at the firm. “We see our individual differences as an asset that enhances the quality of life for each of us and strengthens what we can accomplish as a firm.”

When asked what advice she would give to someone aspiring to a leadership role, she said, “Ropes & Gray fosters an atmosphere for collegiality and openness. My aim is to communicate transparently. Similarly, we encourage our people to speak up, take ownership of their careers and ask questions, particularly of those with more experiences so they can craft their unique path.”
